Der Mensch kann seinem Leben, kurz und bedroht wie es ist, nur dadurch Sinn geben, daß er sich der Gesellschaft widmet.

Die ökonomische Anarchie der kapitalistischen Gesellschaft heute ist meiner Meinung nach die eigentliche Ursache des Übels. Wir sehen vor uns eine riesige Gemeinschaft von Erzeugern, deren Mitglieder unaufhörlich bestrebt sind, einander die Früchte ihrer kollektiven Arbeit zu entziehen - nicht mit Gewalt, sondern alles in allem in getreuer Einhaltung der gesetzlich etablierten Regeln. In dieser Hinsicht ist es wichtig, zu realisieren, daß die Produktionsmittel - d. h. die ganze produktive Kapazität, die für das Produzieren von Verbrauchsgütern wie auch zusätzlichen Investitionsgütern erforderlich ist - juristisch gesehen Privateigentum von Einzelnen sein können und das größtenteils auch sind.

Ich bin davon überzeugt, daß es nur einen Weg gibt, dieses Übel loszuwerden, nämlich den, ein sozialistisches Wirtschaftssystem einzuführen, begleitet von einem Bildungssystem, das sich an sozialen Zielsetzungen orientiert.

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labor not by force, but on the whole in faithful compliance with legally established rules. In this respect, it is important to realize that the means of production - that is to say, the entire productive capacity that is needed for producing consumer goods as well as additional capital goods - may legally be, and for the most part are, the private property of individuals.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
